The inches given already correspond to the approximate waist circumference that matches the belt length.

However, the correct size for the belt can be determined very easily:

The belt should overlap by about 15 cm. That is, it should overlap by about 10 cm (at least!), or be longer than your waist circumference.

If you arrive at an average size when calculating, it's better to always choose a belt one size larger!
